WebMagic CMS – Content Management Systems

CMS allows for content update to a web site without the need for any technical knowledge. The user is not required to have any HTML or CSS ability to manage their site.

How it works

The user logs into an administration area via their browser, from where they can update text and images via an interface that resembles a word processor. The changes are immediately reflected in the site as updates are made to a database rather than to the site files themselves.

Types of CMS

CMS can be very simple or highly complex depending on the site's requirements. In the simplest case the website owner/administrator logs in and simply changes or updates content as required. More complex systems allow for multiple users with different levels of access, for instance, adding new pages or even amending the actual code to change the look of the site.

Adobe Contribute

Adobe's Contribute is a different kind of CMS requiring the purchase of software. Once installed onto the owner's machine Contribute conects to the website via ftp, as there are no databases the changes are made to the site files themselves. The page to be updated appears as it would in a browser but with the facility to be edited. Once the edits have been completed the website is updated.
